3 September - Beautiful day to be on a bike

Sault Ste Marie to Blind River 139km (4858km total).

I finally took the day off my legs had been craving. However a day never seems long enough to get everything done and relax!! Whilst cleaning my bike I noticed Bob had broken a spoke so I dropped him off at Velorution and went to the nearby Walmart. You can't beat their prices for dry staples and toiletries and you can get everything in one place, however going there the day before school starts is not be recommended!!

Mickey had a few hours off in the afternoon and wanted to show me around. We started off with the important stuff, ice cream!! We also went by Bellevue Park, Roberta Bondar Place, the locks, the international bridge and stumbled across Lucy Terrace. And then her parents very kindly invited me for dinner as Mickey had to work late.

Eating my 'udder mess' outside Lock City Dairies.

Lucy Terrace.

The following morning I headed out, I had thoroughly enjoyed Mickey's company and despite her pleas to stay another day I felt like I needed to get back on my bike. I managed to stay off the highway initially by going through Echo Bay where they had a rather large loonie!!!

It was a beautiful day to be on a bike, warm and sunny and I may have even had the wind in my favour at times!! I stopped in Bruce Mines and had lunch by the marina, I marveled at the blue waters which are the north channel of Lake Huron.

Just outside Thessalon a car pulled over ahead of me and a guy got out and gestured for me to pull over. He asked me if I had a bed for the night. Turns out he was a warmshowers host in Thessalon and he invited me to stop for a cup of tea so I did.

I made it to Blind River a little later than planned due to my afternoon tea stop but Muriel and Wayne (warmshowers hosts) invited me in and showed me to their guesthouse in the garden. Despite the fact they were hosting the local Lions club meeting they were very welcoming and invited me over for the pot luck dinner when the meeting finished.
